Overall Chair
Sobriety Requirement: 1 yr.
Term Length: 1 yr.
Steering Committee MemberResponsibilities:
- Chair monthly business meeting;
- Maintain communication with individual group chairs;
- Maintain communication with all group-wide service positions;
- Liaison with landlord/s for Living Now meeting spaces;
- Maintain meeting spaces;
- Remind other service positions of their responsibilities; -

Sobriety Requirement: 2 yr.
Term Length: 2 yr. (treasurer)
Steering Committee Member
Responsibilities- Maintain group finances consistent with 7th Tradition (rent, literature, coffee/hospitality, support of AA service entities, and to maintain meeting space as per group conscience);
- Collect 7th Tradition donations from individual meeting chairs;
- Manage digital collections from Venmo, PayPal, etc.
- Pass 7th Tradition baskets at meetings (if present);
- Maintain a simple and accurate record of income and expenses and submit to secretary and group at monthly business meetings;
- Maintain Living Now bank account (deposits, cancelled checks, bank statements, and all records associated with account, including signature cards) and ensure that current treasurer’s signature is on file with bank;
- Maintain Living Now PO Box per group conscience (pay annual fee, check box at least monthly);
- Ensure group insurance is up to date;
- Pay rent from bank account for meeting spaces;
- Reimburse suppliers for approved expenses (hospitality, literature, supplies, etc.);
- Maintain prudent reserve of at least two months group expenses.*****
Assistant Treasurer
Sobriety Requirement: 2 yr.
Term Length: 1 yr- Determined by agreement between treasurer and assistant treasurer.
- May include assisting with collection of 7th Tradition money, maintaining correspondence with the AA service structure, and other tasks.
- Asst Treasurer frequently cycles into the Treasurer position. -
(3) Secretary
Sobriety Requirement: 1 yr.
Term Length: 1 yr.Overall Secy / Steering Committee Member
- Record minutes for all business meetings;
- Serve as Acting Chair when Overall Chair is unable to attend business meeting;
- Send emails to Living Now members re: business meetings, open service positions, or any relevant Living Now news;
-Maintain and update a strictly confidential file of names and phone numbers of group members (who agree to provide such info);
- Maintain Gmail Drive, periodically checking mailbox and forwarding messages as appropriate;
- Keep a file of all group correspondence;
- Keep copies of and make available descriptions of all service positions;
- Ensure all necessary announcements are available for group chairs to read at each meeting;
- Make Living Now announcements at Saturday and Sunday meetings;
- Send group text to Saturday and Sunday chairs and co-hosts and coordinate responsibilities; and*****
Correspondence/Anniversary Chair
- Connect past service people to incoming service people through email and provide scripts (i.e. help with elections, transition onboarding);
- Answer emails sent to info@livingnowgroup.org and anniversary@livingnowgroup.org and coordinate with Group Overall Chair on responses when necessary;
- Keep Google Drive and Inbox organized;
- Update Anniversary Celebrants List for each month, hand off to Sunday Meeting Chair & Hosts;
- Buy anniversary flowers.

Assistant Secy/Digital Record Keeper
- Maintain, organize, and update digital and hard copy record of all Living Now documents, including business meeting agendas/minutes, service position descriptions, announcements, record of election results, treasurer reports, announcements, meeting lists, insurance policies, etc.;
- Disburse digital and/or hard copies of documents per Secretary’s request;
- Propose an initial organized titling and filing format for group review, discussion, edit and approval, so that individual documents can be easily located as needed;
- Reorganize existing digital record and refile documents in both digital and hard copy per format as/if needed;
- Support Correspondence Secretary and Overall Secretary with other activities as needed. -
(2) Steering Committee
Sobriety Requirement: 2 years
Term Length: 1 yearResponsibilities:
- Provide council on important decisions brought to the committee by the group;
- Share this council with the group (i.e., negotiation of contract for meeting space, etc.). -
(2) General Service Rep & Alternate
Sobriety Requirement: 2 years
Term Length: 2 yearsDefinition of position: The GSR is the group's direct link with A.A.'s General Service Conference, through which groups share their experience and express A.A.'s collective conscience. A history of group service helps in fulfilling GSR responsibilities. Alternate GSR can share the function when necessary at the group, district, and area levels.
Responsibilities:
- Represent the group at district and area general service assemblies;
- Keep group members informed about A.A. General Service activities in the local area;
- Receive and share with group all mail received from A.A. Service Structure entities including: "Box 4-5-9," the General Service Office Newsletter for communicating with the fellowship and "The Link," the newsletter of the General Service Conference Committee of Southeastern New York (S.E.N.Y.);
- Assist group with solving problems or answering questions related to A.A.'s Traditions. -
(2) Intergroup Delegate & Alternate
Sobriety Requirement: 2 years
Term Length: 2 yearsResponsibilities:
- Attend quarterly Delegate Meetings at noon on the second Saturday in March, June, September, and December (check with Inter-Group office for details);
- Attend inter-Group Area Forums as announced;
- Report results of delegates’ quarterly meetings and periodic area forums to the group;
- Communicate information received from Inter-Group to the group;
- Vote for the Group on issues presented to delegates by New York Inter-Group's Steering Committee;
- Communicate to the Steering Committee the group's conscience affecting the 12th Step service of Inter-Group;
- Liaise between Inter-Group and Group to sell tickets to the annual Bill W. dinner-dance;
- Follow up on 12th Step referrals to the group's meetings;
- Schedule periodic Inter-Group Information Meetings for the group (booked at quarterly Exchange Meetings or by calling Inter Group staff);
- Ensure that group meeting information is accurately reported in the New York Inter-Group's meeting list book; and
- Inform group members of opportunities for 12th Step service with New York Inter-Group (such as answering telephones).Alternate Intergroup Delegate

Hospitals & Institutions Coordinator

The Inter-Group Institutions Committee brings meetings into hospitals, detoxes, prisons, shelters, and halfway houses. Literature & Meeting Books are available through Area Institutions Committee (free).Responsibilities:
- Book and bring a speaker meeting to Living Now’s partner Lenox Hill Hospital, Tuesdays at 8:30pm.
- Arrive at 8:15pm to meet the chairperson downstairs.
- Bring photo ID
- Speaker shares 10-15 minutes of experience, strength and hope, followed by sharing from the floor.
- Collect used issues of "The Grapevine" from group members and send the magazines to the Inter-Group office for inclusion in literature packages distributed at institutional meetings.
- Report regularly to the Group on the activities of the Inter-Group Institutions Committee.
- Encourage group participation in the activities of the Inter-Group Institutions Committee by suggesting that group members Chair or speak at Institutions Meetings. It is also possible for A.A. groups to "adopt" local Institutional Meetings. By adopting a local institutional meeting the A.A. group agrees to regularly Chair the meeting, as well as provide speakers and interim sponsors and Traditions shades. -
Grapevine Rep
Sobriety Requirement: 1 year
Term Length: 1 yearResponsibilities:
- Maintain group subscriptions to the Grapevine (2+);
- Submit bill to Treasurer in a timely fashion so that Treasurer can send check;
- Receive Grapevine issues;
- Announce at meetings that Grapevine issues are available for purchase at the current cost;
- Distribute issues of Grapevine to people who purchase them;
- Announce and implement LN’s gift of one year of Grapevine to celebrants with one year of sobriety.
- Place issues of Grapevine on the literature table. -
Webperson
Sobriety Requirement: 1 year

(3+1) Weds Beginners Panel : Living Sober
Sobriety Requirement: 1 year
Term Length: 3 months
This is a Living Sober Literature meeting with three panelists and one alternate made up of two women and two men.
Panelists are responsible for covering any week they can’t make it by contacting the alternate.Panelists agree on a specific chapter/section to discuss and share about from Living Sober. Each of the three will share their experience, strength, hope or challenges with that particular topic.
The meeting is then open to tiered sharing, starting with under 30 days, under 60, under 90, under a year, then open to the floor.

- Announce at each meeting your availability to speak with members needing a sponsor and members wanting to be a sponsor;
- Announce that members needing a sponsor or wanting to be a sponsor can email sponsorship@livingnowgroup.org, check inbox regularly, and respond timely;
- Maintain existing sponsorship books and ensure that phone numbers in the book are current;
- Be available at breaks and after meetings to help those in need of sponsorship.
Literature Chairs

- Purchase literature from Inter-Group (cost of literature can be reimbursed after purchase or advanced prior to purchase with a copy of a completed literature order form);
- Announce at all meetings that literature is available, pamphlets are free, books are at cost;
- Arrange literature at meetings;
- Write price in pencil on the inside front cover of all books for sale.

- Coordinate with other group officers and members who are responsible for literature, greeting, etc.;
- Arrive early to ensure the space is set up according to group conscience;
- Clean meeting space after each meeting (ask for volunteers to help if needed);
- Remind group of Tradition One;
- Stick to the script on the clipboard, established via group conscience;
- Oversee all logistics, including but not limited to: tech, set up, clean up;
- Ensure that, if any of these duties are not being covered, designate someone, cover it, and/or bring it to the attention of the Overall Chair. -
(2) Tech Team
Sobriety Requirement : 90 days
Term Length: 6 monthsResponsibilities:
- Arrive in person 1 hour early and set up tech for hybrid portion of meeting, including audio and mic, projector and stand;
- Run “Living Now” computer for zoom (controls online view of meeting, speaker and audio);
- Remain at meeting and help run key elements during meeting, including microphone and camera as needed;
- Break down and store tech after meeting;
- Ensure that people online can hear and see live feed from the space, which may include controlling volume of room and zoom, adjusting camera as needed, supporting Host as needed. -
(2) Zoom CoHosts
Sobriety Requirement : 90 days
Term Length: 6 monthsResponsibilities:
- Support Chair in smooth operation of meeting by serving as online host;
- Login 30 - 45 minutes early to open zoom room and test;
- Call on Zoom participants for days, anniversaries, shares, burning desires;
- Unmute/mute participants;
- Ensure zoom settings are correct (ability to mute/unmute, security, etc.);
- Manage chat requests;
- Lower raised hands;
- Keep time (absent a spiritual timekeeper) -
(2) In-Person Greeters
Sobriety Requirement: Newcomer
Term Length: 6 monthsResponsibilities:
- Arrive at the meeting space 45 – 60 minutes early to help set up;
- Greet members at the door (outside or inside as weather permits) as they enter the meeting space;
- Welcome newcomers and introduce them to others at the meeting.

- Clean meeting space after each meeting (ask for volunteers to help if needed);
- Remind group of Tradition One;
- Stick to the script on the clipboard, established via group conscience;
- Oversee all logistics, including but not limited to: clean up , assisting spiritual usher with loitering issues outside of meeting, anniversary meeting prep;
- Ensure that, if any of these duties are not being covered, designate someone, cover it, and/or bring it to the attention of the Overall Chair. -
(2) Tech Team

Term Length: 6 monthsResponsibilities:
- Arrive in person 1 hour early and set up tech for hybrid portion of meeting, including audio and mic, projector and stand;
- Run “Sirovich Stage” computer for zoom (controls online view of stage and audio);
- Remain at meeting and help run key elements during meeting, including helping with timekeeping and camera as needed;
- Break down and store tech after meeting;
- Ensure that people online can hear and see live feed from the space, which may include controlling volume of room and zoom, adjusting camera as needed, supporting Host as needed. -
(2) Zoom CoHosts
Sobriety Requirement : 90 days
Term Length: 6 monthsResponsibilities:
- Support Chair by serving as IN PERSON host w/personal laptop;
- Login 30 - 45 minutes early to open zoom room and test;
- Call on Zoom participants for days, anniversaries, shares, burning desires;
- Unmute/mute participants;
- Ensure zoom settings are correct (ability to mute/unmute, security, etc.);
- Manage chat requests;
- Lower raised hands;
- Keep time (absent a spiritual timekeeper) -

- Set up breakout rooms;
- Guide people who want to join breakout room and are having difficulty getting in;
- Post instructions and welcome in chat;
- Post list of day counters, newcomers and anniversary celebrants in chat;
- Moderate conversation in breakout rooms to make sure day counters and newcomers are invited to take time to share. -
(4) Hospitality /Coffee Team
Sobriety Reqirement: Newcomer
Term Length: 6 monthsResponsibilities:
- Arrive at least 1 hour prior the meeting start time;
- Purchase necessary supplies (coffee, sugar, milk, tea, cookies, etc.);
- Turn receipts in to the treasurer for reimbursement;
- Help the set up the meeting space per set-up instructions;
- Clean and store coffee pots, serving area, and meeting space after the meeting. -
Anniversary Cake
Sobriety Requirement: Newcomer
Term Length: 6 monthsResponsibilities:
- Bring cake (made or purchased) to monthly anniversary meeting.
- No pre-determined budget, but use best judgment on size and cost.
- Save receipt and provide to treasurer for reimbursement.
- Light candles and bring cake up to the front at the end of the anniversary meeting.
- Cut and distribute cake back at the table.
- Clean up the cake section -
(2) Spiritual Ushers
Sobriety Requirement: 6 months
Term Length: 6 monthsResponsibilities:
- Arrive early to the meeting to help enforce the rules of the space;
- Announce that it is group conscience to only save one seat for themselves;
- Announce New York City fire code says everyone must have a seat and not sit on the floor;
- Request all group members before, during, and after the meeting not stand or smoke in front of the meeting space but go down the block or across the street so as not to disturb our neighbors;
- Request that group members dispose of liquids in the buckets or the sink in the bathroom prior to throwing their drink away in the garbage cans inside and outside of the theater.
- At meetings end, instruct the group how to put the chairs away.
